Newton Bingo, Surrey
Along the urban condition of King George Highway in Surrey, with buildings set off the street in vast parking lots, this new gaming facility and existing mall renovation, breaks away from the standard strip mall vocabulary by replacing the typical signage tower with a pronounced arcade canopy. The extensive canopy defines a pedestrian zone encouraging walkers through the site between the residential neighbourhood and proposed transit hub. The site and building design incorporates CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principals to the Newton neighbourhood currently in transition. This project has gone from Re-Zoning through Development Permits and Building Permits and is currently on hold with ownership transition.
